BACCARAT
Description and Objective:
Baccarat is a game played by tuxedoed gentlemen in exotic locales. There is still debate over where the game of Baccarat originated - in Italy or in France. In both those countries languages the word means the same, however - ‘zero’. At first glance, baccarat may look complex however the objective really is very simple. You are trying to predict whether the player’s hand will be closest to a value of 9 or if the banker’s hand will get closest to a value of 9, or if the two will tie.
You are not actually dealt a hand, you are wagering on others that are. The player and banker are dealt 2 and sometimes 3 cards. All tens and all picture cards have a value of zero and aces are 1. If the hand totals 10 or more, subtract 10 for the value of the hand. As an example, a 6 and a 7 = 13, in Baccarat it is 3. If either the player and /or the Banker have a total of 8 or 9, they both stand.
What advice can we give when first playing baccarat? Print out and examine the handy draw chart found in the ‘HELP’ files in the Baccarat game. Keep this with you when playing, as it provides a guide to when the banker and the player will draw cards. Once you are aware of the procedure there is not really much else to know. Those svelte actors in every glamorous spy movie realize this also!
